Energy compliance and MINERGIE

Compliance documents that come out of the design

Energy compliance is not a form-filling exercise. Produced from the ongoing design work, it reveals early where a project runs into a limit — while there is still time to react.

School building project with energy compliance documentation by Giovanoli

What this service covers

In Switzerland, energy requirements for buildings are governed at cantonal level. Forms, limit values, and procedures therefore differ from canton to canton. We establish the applicable requirements at the outset — and Dario Giovanoli is authorized in several cantons as a person permitted to carry out the private verification of energy compliance documentation.

  • Energy compliance for the building permit under the applicable cantonal energy regulations
  • Heating demand verification for the building envelope and its assemblies
  • Verification for ventilation and air conditioning where required
  • MINERGIE certification, including the associated building services documentation
  • Summer thermal comfort verification, backed by dynamic simulation where needed
  • On-site electricity generation and coordination with photovoltaic design where the regulations require it
  • Private verification of documentation prepared by others, in the cantons where Dario Giovanoli is authorized
  • Cantonal energy regulations
  • MINERGIE
  • Heating demand
  • Summer thermal comfort
  • Private verification
  • Building permit

How we work

Early rather than last

We check the requirements as early as the preliminary design. If a gap appears, it can still be closed with insulation, glazing, or the systems concept — later it gets expensive.

No duplicate data entry

Geometry and assemblies are taken from the design model. That saves effort and rules out discrepancies between the documentation and what gets built.

Variants calculated through

Whether a better envelope or more efficient equipment pays off more can be calculated. We show the routes that reach the target.

Ready for the authorities

We deliver the documents in the form the responsible office expects and answer queries during the permit procedure.

Projects designed by others

We prepare documentation for projects designed by other offices. We need the architectural drawings, the assemblies, and the details of the planned building services. Where information is missing we make assumptions and state them.

Authorized for private verification

In several cantons, energy compliance documentation may be verified privately by an authorized person instead of by the authority. That usually shortens the procedure.

Scope of the engagement

What is not included Not included are on-site inspections during construction, measurements on the completed building, and the follow-up documentation some cantons require after completion. Where a project needs those, we agree them separately.

Frequently asked questions

When does the documentation have to be available?

As a rule with the building application. Depending on canton and project, individual documents may only be due at construction release or after completion. We clarify the procedure for your location.

Can you prepare documentation for a project designed by someone else?

Yes. We need the architectural drawings, the building assemblies, and the details of the planned building services. Where information is missing we make assumptions and state them.

Is MINERGIE worth it?

That is a trade-off between additional cost, available subsidies, marketability, and operating costs. We calculate the specific case rather than giving a general recommendation.

What happens if the verification does not work out?

Then we show the routes that would satisfy it — a better envelope, different heat generation, on-site electricity generation, or a combination. That is exactly why we check as early as possible.
